Why am I a coach?

Simply, I like to see people grow, develop and achieve more than what they thought was possible.

I wanted to do work I loved, on my own terms and to impact the lives of people and organizations in a meaningful way. Coaching was the way to bring it all together. I always wanted to be the person that other people said, “How did she do that? How did she make that happen?” Versus the person that wondered how someone else made something they wanted happen. I am passionate about you getting what you want out of life in the same manner.

As a manager, leader, human resources professional and coach I have been involved with people development, performance management and manager capability my entire career. I have always been inspired by what people are capable of achieving when they set their mind to it. In some cases I have seen people accomplish things seemingly impossible. Emerging from job loss in a happier, stronger place, leaving a great job to follow a passion, leaving a legacy in the workplace, summoning the courage to believe you can create what is possible. Not letting life’s challenges slow you down. People make all of these things happen.

As a people manager I believed fiercely that my role was to challenge that anything was possible. To hold my employees as creative beings that could accomplish sometimes more than even they dreamed. And by doing so, this was often the outcome. Along with this belief, providing feedback, helping people get comfortable with their areas of development and providing a springboard for strengths proved to be a formula that led to high performing teams and fast tracking employees. The clear, supportive feedback of a manager, the belief in what is possible from an external coach, mentor or even peer was often the magic that could take a challenge and help turn it in to an opportunity. Eventually my role as a manager led to mentorship and then to coaching. As a coach I believe passionately in possibilities. I believe in greatness in our personal, family, work and friendship lives.
